Cape Town Gospel Jazz Concert

On Sunday 18th December, I had the pleasure of featuring with celebrated South African Pianist, Camillo Lombard, at a Gospel Jazz Concert. The show featured Camillo’s own gospel choir and band at Cape town’s V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre.

Camillo arranged a beautiful programme of specially arranged Christmas songs, in a gospel Jazz style, and even included a classical flavour with one of his stunning Cantatas. The amphitheatre and surrounding area was packed with a lively crowd, expecting some real musical magic from this colossal musical ensemble….and boy did they deliver!

I was featured about half way through the programme, in some of the funkier numbers…most notably in a passionate fusion version of Amazing Grace – See the you tube clip here:

Camillo actually surprised me by adding a funky groove section in the middle, but I believe that passion has an element of uncertainty to it, so we vibed on in true Cape Town style…and the crowd went wild! All in all, a wonderful and magical concert which I will remember for ever!

I love Cape Town!

“Global Angels” charity awards evening

On 2nd December, I had the privilege of attending the “Global Angels” charity awards evening. The evening featured incredible performances from Natasha Bedingfield, Daniel Bedingfield, Joss Stone, Leona Lewis and John Forte.

The event was elegantly presented by Molly Bedingfield and her team – awarding various Global Angels Ambassadors for their fundraising activities during the last year.

Also presenting some of the awards with his usual Trinidad charm, was Rudolph Walker – famed TV/theatre actor, better known as Patrick from Eastenders, The Thin Blue Line and Love Thy Neighbour.

Amongst the winners were Bear Grylls – English adventurer and TV presenter and Bonita Norris – top UK climber. Check out the pictures.

The event ended with an amazing jam session featuring all the artists – performing a medley of Pop, Soul and Reggae hits from the last 3 decades!....even a hilarious percussion interlude with Daniel and Josh Bedingfield and friends – tapping the champagne glasses in expertly coordinated African rhythms!

The evening came to a close at 12am, with a heartfelt thank you speech from Molly Bedingfield.
